Trap League Rules and Information
Changes for 2026
-
The 16 Yard league seasons will once again be split into two 8 week halves. There will continue to be a shoot off between the first and second half winners, if necessary, to determine the overall league champion.
NEW: If a tie occurs within a half, a non-shooting tie breaker method will be used instead of a shoot off.
The tie breaker will be determined by the following, using the first half or second half data, until a single team remains:
-
Head to head records of the tied teams using 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie. Higher point total wins.
-
Sum the top 5 weekly shooter scores with handicap for each team. Higher total wins. (This is the normal team score from each week.)
-
Sum of the top 5 weekly shooter scores without handicap for each team. Higher total wins.
-
Sum the number of 25s scored by each team. Higher total wins.
-
Sum the number of 24s scored by each team. Higher total wins.
-
Flip a coin.
-
NEW: The mid season tournament will take place after week 10 (instead of after week 8) of the season to avoid conflicting with the high school tournaments.
Midseason Tournament Week 1:
AAA League: June 30
AA and A Leagues: July 1
Midseason Tournament Week 2:
AAA League: July 7
AA and A Leagues: July 8
-
NEW: For the mid season tournament, the teams will be seeded into the bracket based on the first half (week 8) standings instead of using a random draw. Any ties will be broken using the method described above for within half ties.
-
NEW: For week 2 of the mid season tournament, the trap house loading will be be done by the winning AAA team for July 7 and the winning A team for July 8. In the past when scheduling teams for this week, it often occurred that the scheduled teams were no longer in the tournament and therefore were not at the range to load the houses.
